Scott Deveau is an advisor to investment professionals, boards and management teams on critical communications and corporate governance matters. Scott focuses on many of the firm’s high-stakes media relations mandates, drawing on his nearly 20 years of experience as a leading financial journalist.

Scott also advises a number of Longacre Square’s clients in the Canadian market. These include alternative asset managers, private equity firms, hedge funds and TSX-listed companies.

Prior to joining the firm Scott was a deals reporter in New York and Toronto for nearly a decade at Bloomberg News. Most recently, he led Bloomberg’s shareholder activism coverage, and was responsible for breaking numerous high-profile stories on proxy fights, M&A, and other special situations. He was also a business reporter, war correspondent and general assignment reporter for the Financial Post and the Globe and Mail in Toronto.

He holds a B.A. from Queen’s University.

Kate Sylvester advises hedge funds, private equity firms and alternative asset managers on strategic communications and brand building programs. She specializes in proactive media relations, thought leadership and LP communications, including around major transactions, fund launches and leadership transitions. In addition, she also has extensive experience advising clients on reputation management matters and portfolio company communications.

Kate’s current client base includes leading credit managers, hedge funds and venture capital firms. She has also previously represented firms such as AQR Capital Management, Blue Wolf Capital, Commonfund, Francisco Partners, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, HPS Investment Partners, KKR/Ownership Works and New York Life Investments.

Prior to joining Longacre Square, Kate was a Senior Vice President at Sloane & Company where she advised global asset managers, private equity firms and investment consultants. She also previously worked at Prosek Partners and began her career at Edelman in Washington, D.C. Kate holds a dual B.A. from the University of Maryland, College Park.
